Sharing my musical passion and talents with joy
Valerie Eve Norris is a wife, mother, teacher, and composer and writer of "The Perfect Pairing". She runs a private music studio in New Smyrna Beach, FL and teaches Composition, Theory, Voice and Piano. Her greatest passion in her studio is teaching music composition both in private and group lessons and helping students to discover how to be expressive in creating music. She received a Bachelor of Music Degree with Magna Cum Laude honors in Music Theory and Composition from Ouachita Baptist University, AR where she studied voice with Dr. Jon Secrest and was given membership into Phi Kappa Lambda music honorary society. She now uses all of her knowledge, talent, and drive to help young students develop a lifelong passion for music. She currently serve as the Music Theory Chair for Florida State and the Student Day Chair for Central Florida through MTNA.
She has enjoyed several roles over the years ranging from Mozart's "Queen of the Night", Glitter and Be Gay's "Cunegonde" to Offenbach's "Doll". She competed and won several State and Regional NATS competitions and received an Honorable Mention in the MET Young Artist Regional Competition in 2007.
​She teaches in a Socratic method, pushing each student to think through a problem and learn how to answer questions for himself. She is not as concerned with the student's speed of progression through a song as much as with his mastering each song. She help's to develop and encourage student's stage performance with multiple recital opportunities each year in my studio, county recitals and Student Day. While I offer private Composition lessons, composition assignments are also given to each Voice and Piano student in my studio as a means to reinforce music theory concepts and allow all my students the opportunity to be creative and enjoy music on a more personal level.

Valerie's goal for every student is that they enjoy a lifelong passion in learning music and utilize persistence, self-evaluation, commitment to perfecting, and analyzing techniques in all other areas of life and she uses all of her knowledge, talent, and drive to help her students develop a lifelong passion for music.
